Robert is a Fellow of the IPA and has over 20 years of Public sector communications and marketing experience with the Scottish Office/ Scottish Executive/ Scottish Government and the COI.
Previously he was Chairman and Chief Executive of the Barkers Group of Companies, where he set up Barkers Public Sector division which evolved into Barkers Social Marketing. Robert has led a diverse range of projects focusing on behaviour change, from domestic abuse, housing stock transfer, road safety, use of public transport, and flu vaccination. He pioneered Public/ Private sector sponsorship/partnerships in health, transport and justice.
Recently, Robert has been advising Scottish Television on the setting up and development of their social marketing unit utilising all its communication channels – TV, Digital and STV Local.
